On Saturday, September 12, Team Motor Home Finders hit the links at the River Strand Golf & Country Club in Bradenton to benefit Family Resources of Manatee County. Family Resources is the only homeless and runaway shelter for teens ages ten to 17 in Manatee County, and also the leading provider of counseling, prevention and supportive services for area youth who are at-risk.
Avid golfer and ABC 7 Chief Meteorologist Bob Harrigan emceed the four-person scramble, and everyone on Team Motor Home Finders enjoyed playing this beautiful course. It made it even better that it was for such a great cause.
“As a parent, it’s hard to imagine children living on the streets, but they are definitely out there,” said Cindy Green. “Family Resources SafePlace2B Shelters served more than 800 homeless kids last year alone. We were happy to get involved.”
Since 1970, Family Resources has been the only place runaway and homeless children, teens, and families could turn to for help during difficult times. By providing a continuum of services, their over-arching goal is to keep the family whole and together. Family Resources offers counseling services, shelter and transitional living programs as well as an array of community-based programs that assist youth in dealing with family issues, peer pressures and other challenging social issues. Our services offer hope while providing the education, skill building and therapeutic support that gives youth and families the tools necessary to resolve conflicts and experience successful, permanent relationships.
“It was a beautiful course and a fun day for an extraordinary cause,” said Fred Green.
Team Motor Home’s Colleen Gregory won the ladies’ closest to the pin, making the day even more special.
